Hiroshima No Pika

Hiroshima-no-Pika-300x300A classic book about the atomic bomb, Hiroshima No Pika is heartbreakingly vivid about the events and after effects of August 6, 1945. Author/illustrator Toshi Maruki presents a conglomerate of others’ experiences into the experience of one little girl and her family, alongside beautiful paintings of the pain and horror.

Be aware that this is a realistic picture book and a necessary picture book, about the Japanese experience, in order to remember and be sure it never happens again.

  1. Interesting cover. Sounds like a pretty intense read. But beautiful?
