The Mysterious Benedict Society

It’s hard to peg this book because it’s a little of so many good things: a little mystery, a little adventure, and a little fantasy. The Mysterious Benedict Society is Trenton Lee Stewart’s first in a series starring Reynie, Sticky, Kate, and Constance. These four parent-less children are the only ones to pass a strange and elusive test advertised in the newspaper and therefore end up as Mr. Benedict’s protegés. Will they have what it takes to overthrow evil and stop the Emergency that has the world abuzz?

It’s not easy to set this book down, especially near the end when surprises abound and families form.
