A Play’s the Thing

HarperCollins Publishers, 2005

Aliki’s eclectic cast of characters put on a play based on a familiar rhyme in Miss Brilliant’s classroom, even though class skeptic José antagonizes everyone.  A Play’s the Thing showcases theatrics in the classroom.  Speech balloons and illustration boxes make this picture book a good read for upper elementary children.

Use this book to do reader’s theatre.  Or put on a play based on a favorite poem, adding in funny elements as the kids do in the book.
