Balancing Act

Simple text, simple illustrations and a clever story make this book by Ellen Stoll Walsh a winner.  It’s playtime for two mice on a homemade teeter-totter, but other animals keep joining them, either tipping them or balancing.  Re-enact this story with a mini teeter-totter (you can make one with a ruler and play-dough), using stuffed animals.  Or get out the science scale, and compare weights, adding items to one side and trying to balance by adding to the other side.
