In light of the recent political violence, aneducationinbooks thought it best to move this post a week early, rather than on Martin Luther King Day. This is one of the best books on MLK out there, beautifully written by Doreen Rappaport and illustrated by Bryan Collier, as well as being historically accurate. It addresses the events of the civil rights movement during Martin Luther King’s time with beautiful words, many of them quotes.
Filled with perseverance and bravery, this is one book that everyone, young and old, need to read today. “Fight with words, not fists.”
One of my favorite picture book bios on MLK!
An excellent resource. Thank you for including the video.
You are welcome, Linda. This is still my favourite book on MLK. And your website has quite a list of resources on MLK. Thanks!
